Magnolia Pearl Style first took root in 2001 when Robin "Pearl" Brown opened her business with partner John Gray, selling clothing and accessories she made from vintage laces, velvets, silks, and embroidered linens, much of it from Robin's collections.
"I love colour and lots of detail. Layers and layers of detail," says Robin. With a painter father and a free-spirited mother who was herself a textile artist, Robin started at age six designing clothes for herself and has sewn her own inventive wardrobe for years. When her mother gathered up fine vintage fabrics, Robin would be at her side, internalizing their feel, strength and beauty.
On the ranch in the Texas Hill Country where she lives with her partner, John Gray, she is at home in a handmade life. With a luxurious mix of lustrous vintage fabrics and antique lace, silk, velvet and satin, textile artist Robin Brown constructs one-of-a-kind handbags, knapsacks, and fabulous clothing.
To Robin, the lush Texas countryside of the ranch, with its wildflowers, birds, and pioneer history, has proved a continuing source of inspiration for her own creative life.
I absolutely adore Robin's clothes, they are so unusual and feminine and personal. Each piece is handmade by Robin's team of just 6 and each design is hand drawn and then hand embroidered making each one of her uniquely embellished pieces highly sort after and collectable.
As you can imagine many of the garments are made to order and so we only have 1 or 2 of each design at any one time. So if you fall in love with something please call us to check availability and order times. It is worth waiting for!
